Building a toolbox for knowledge exchange in the healthcare sector

Province of Antwerp

The Zorgplekleren project was developed to strengthen practice-based learning in the healthcare sector. Together with healthcare organizations and training institutes, we designed a comprehensive toolbox aimed at facilitating and optimizing learning processes on the shop floor. This toolbox offers concrete tools and methodologies for supervisors, students and organizations, and together helps them create an inspiring learning environment that meets the needs of the care sector.

Creating an inspiring learning environment in the healthcare industry

The healthcare industry faces the challenge of effectively training new employees and students in a complex and dynamic environment. The issues were:

  • How can healthcare organizations and training institutions work together to improve practice-based learning?
  • What tools and methodologies support supervisors in their role?
  • How do you make the learning environment attractive and forward-looking for both students and professionals?

The Zorgplekleren project focused on developing a practical and inspiring solution to address these challenges.

Co-creation and iterative design

Our process consisted of three main phases, with a focus on co-creation and hands-on solutions:

  1. Research and analysis: In the first phase, we gathered insights through workshops, interviews and desk research. We identified the needs of tutors, students and organizations.
  2. Co-creative development: Based on the insights, we worked with stakeholders to develop a toolbox. Through iterative workshops, ideas were refined and tested.
  3. Implementation and validation: The toolbox was tested in real-world environments, with user feedback to optimize functionality and usability.

The approach ensured that the toolbox is both relevant and feasible for the healthcare industry, with a strong focus on practical applicability.

A toolbox for practice-based learning in the healthcare sector

The project resulted in a user-friendly and inspiring toolbox that helps healthcare organizations and training institutions optimize learning pathways. The main results were:

  • A comprehensive toolbox: Concrete tools and methodologies that support supervisors and students in care-learning.
  • Field validation: The tools were tested and refined in collaboration with healthcare organizations, leading to strong support among users.
  • Encourage collaboration: The project strengthened collaboration between training institutions and healthcare organizations, contributing to a more integrated learning environment.

The toolbox provides a sustainable framework for improving practice-based learning in the healthcare sector and contributes to a better connection between training and the workplace.

A partnership for future-oriented learning

The Zorgplekleren project was realized in cooperation with healthcare organizations, training institutions and sector partners. With this track, we strengthen practice-based learning and support supervisors and students in the healthcare sector. The toolbox offers a practical answer to the demand for better aligned and inspiring learning environments, with the aim of training professionals ready for the challenges of the future.
