Strengthen by collaborating between organisation
Challenge
Because within the Gumption group each company continues to work under its own name, the collaboration and synergy between the companies and the propagation of the Gumption brand is not always obvious. However, Gumption considers co-creation to be of paramount importance and puts a lot of effort into finding creative solutions for its customers.
That is why Gumption asked The Argonauts to have 20 'Gumption pioneers' from different companies within the group work together to develop ideas around 3 challenges:
- How can we make Gumption the 'best place to work'?
- How do we turn all employees into true Gumption ambassadors?
- How do we attract the best employees and projects to Gumption?
Approach & results
To get the safari right, all participants first received an invitation box with a QR code. This way, they were invited to participate in a digital safari in 4 online modules, in which we use the design thinking method to kickstart co-creation, peer-2-peer exchange and innovation between the pioneers of the companies. We start from 3 key challenges:
- How can we make Gumption the 'best place to work'?
- How do we turn all employees into true Gumption ambassadors?
- How do we attract the best employees and projects to Gumption?
The design safari, which consisted of 4 online modules (because of covid) led the pioneers in 4 steps through the design thinking process to come up with solutions and prepare a pitch around the 3 challenges. Each of the 3 groups took care of one of the challenges.
We started by empathizing with the employees of the Gumption companies on the one hand and potential future employees from outside the organization on the other. Based on these insights, each team drew up a clearly formulated design challenge. We then went to work on selecting solutions which in a next step were prototyped into a digital prototype (indeed, they were mainly digital solutions ...).Finally, each team worked out a pitch that was presented in the last session (which fortunately could be held in person) to the management team of the Gumption group, who had taken on the role of jury.
Results
The digital safari culminated in a selection of two concepts that were actually rolled out in the organization.
